The Summertime Theatre Series is a costless summertime theatre program open to current 5th through 12th class students in Austin ISD. Student actors, dancers, technicians, and musicians are invited to participate! Audition help is available and no experience is necessary!

The 2022 Summer Theatre Series volition feature the post-obit programming:

2022 STS Rising Stars: A 1-week educational theatre army camp offer classes in acting, dancing, and singing.  Rising Stars is "Training young actors to be tomorrow'southward stars." - June half dozen - ten
2022 STS Musical: The Addams Family - June 6 - July 25
2022 STS Blackness Box Studio Production: Alice In Wonderland - June half dozen - July 25
2022 STS Technical Runway: Technical Theatre focus in Stage Management, Lights, Sound, Costumes, Brand-Up, Props, and/or Scenery. - June 6 - July 25

Past midnight on April xiii: Complete the Google Form
By midnight on April thirteen: Join the Google Classroom Code: zbfrt5i
By midnight on April fifteen: Submit your audience videos or your application for the technical track.

Audition Videos:

All performers must submit a one-infinitesimal monologue to Google Classroom.
All students auditioning for the musical must submit a ane-minute monologue, a dance video, and a singing video to Google Classroom.
All musicians must submit an audition video to Google Classroom.
All technicians must submit a technician application to Google Classroom.

Audition Workshop and Question & Answer Session:

Join u.s.a. April 11 at v:30pm for azoom workshop and question and answer session.

Location:

Rehearsals take place at the Austin ISD Performing Arts Center. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm with extended hours the week of performances. Please view the tentative rehearsal agenda.

Transportation:

This twelvemonth, nosotros are excited to be providing several transportation options for our students.  We volition take a daily jitney running to and from South Austin's Bedichek Middle School campus, carpools, and free city bus passes available for students through the Kids Ride Gratis programme with Uppercase Metro.  Urban center bus locations are conveniently located at the corner of Mueller Blvd. and Barbara Jordan Blvd. and beyond from Dell Children's Hospital.

Internships:

STS offers internships to AISD alumni who have completed at least one year of college or preparatory school.  This position has a $500 stipend.  Utilize by April 15: Internship Awarding

Join the ensemble and make lifelong memories in the 2022 Austin ISD Summer Theatre Serial!


The Austin ISD Visual & Performing Arts Department believes that a Visual & Performing Arts education is essential for the development of the whole child. The arts provide students with unique experiences that let them to explore their passions, maximize their creativity and critical thinking skills, and learn valuable lessons about self-motivation, dedication, teamwork and communication.

AISD is a recognized leader in urban education and is defended to providing an arts-rich education for every student. Visual & Performing Arts education is available at all 129 schools. Every elementary pupil in the district receives a high-quality education in elementary and music.

Secondary schools throughout AISD offering many different Visual & Performing Arts strands for students to pursue:

  • Ring
  • Choir
  • Dance
  • Guitar
  • Orchestra
  • Theatre
  • Visual Arts

Each of these sequential courses, all of which characteristic a meaningful and rigorous curriculum taught by expert staff, provides students with the noesis and skills necessary for cerebral, artistic, emotional and social growth. By enrolling in these Visual & Performing Arts courses, students are also eligible to participate in clinics and contests such as All-City Guitar, All-Metropolis Band, All-Metropolis Choir, UIL Concert and Sight Reading, One Deed Play, Dance Spectacular and Visual Fine art Scholastic Issue, as well as diverse concerts, events and fine art exhibits throughout the customs. Visual & Performing Arts students from AISD have won numerous commune, state and national awards and scholarships, and many have gone on to pursue the arts in higher education and across.

In addition to Visual & Performing Arts didactics, Austin ISD offers Visual & Performing Arts Academies for students interested in an accelerated arts curriculum.
